Dispenser Development Programme for Dispensing Doctors
The Dispenser Development Programme for Dispensing Doctors allows the learner to be able to deal with routine queries and enables the dispenser to be involved in professional discussions with the healthcare team regarding more complex issues.
Some of the previous generation of regulated pharmacy qualifications are being “switched off” by the GPhC in favour of the new Initial Education and Training (IET) Standards that have been launched. As such, we are not able to continue to offer this programme after 30th September 2020.
Anyone enrolled on the Dispenser Development Programme prior to 30th September can continue to complete the programme during a “teach-out” period.
The new programme that meets the GPhC’s current IET standards is the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme.
For employers interested in taking advantage of the benefits of apprenticeships, the new programme available is the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) apprenticeship standard.
Please note that this programme is not accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council and does not meet the DSQS standards for a dispensing assistant. If you do not already hold a valid dispensing qualification to level 2 or equivalent, please visit the Dispensing Assistant Course page.
The programme consists of the Dispensing Academy and the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (No Pharmacist).
This programme is designed to be completed without the supervision of a registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician and is not a route to registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Completion of the course is to enhance the learner’s role as a dispenser in dispensing practice. Please contact us using the 'ask a question' form for further information regarding registering as a pharmacy technician.
The required Expert Witness observations for the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (No Pharmacist) will be covered through one or more visits by a Buttercups assessor. We cannot accept applications from self-funded learners; the employer is required to support and fund this programme.
