BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
As increasing demands are made upon the whole pharmacy team there is a need for senior pharmacy support staff. Pharmacists need to be able to delegate to colleagues they know have the knowledge, skills and professionalism to cope with the responsibilities they are given.
This course will provide you with the knowledge to develop in this role, to be able to deal with routine queries and enable you to be involved in professional discussions with the pharmacist regarding more complex issues.
The course provides the underpinning knowledge for the Advanced Apprenticeship Programme. It delivers a comprehensive range of subjects including pharmaceutical science, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutics, laws and ethics, actions and uses of drugs and disease management. The learner should be someone showing a keen interest in professional development and a willingness to accept responsibility for a more senior role once qualified. We cannot accept applications from self-funded learners; the employer is required to support and fund this programme.
This course is generally undertaken as part of the Advanced Apprenticeship Programme over a period of two years.
How is the Course Delivered?
All our courses are delivered by blended learning. This course benefits from a dedicated website where learners with internet access can download the course materials, along with additional support material.
The assessment involves assignments at the end of each module, which includes both multiple choice questions and short answer questions. You will also be asked to have recorded professional discussions with Buttercups Training in-house pharmacists.
Registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician is dependent upon the relevant two year work experience in a pharmacy, under the supervision of a pharmacist for a least 14 hours per week, in addition to the completion of a relevant competency based qualification, which is included as part of the Advanced Apprenticeship Programme.
