The Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician Programme allows candidates, with relevant experience, to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. This programme prepares the candidate to be able to deal with routine queries and hold professional discussions with the pharmacist regarding more complex issues.
The Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician Programme consists of the Level 3 Technical Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science and the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (NVQ) (QCF) (formerly NVQ 3 Pharmacy Services Evidence Collection).
To be eligible, the candidate must be employed as a pre-registration pharmacy technician working for a minimum 14 hours/week, with regular access to work in the dispensary for the two year duration of the course, under the supervision, direction or guidance of a pharmacist to whom they are directly accountable.
