A Funded Alternative to the Dispensing Assistant Course for Employers in England

Have you considered the level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant (PSA) apprenticeship as an alternative to the Dispensing Assistant Course?

Is an apprenticeship the right choice?

If you’re based in England, you may be able to benefit from the advantages of an apprenticeship:

  • Fully Funded Training – No course fees for apprentices up to the age of 21 (95% government funding for over 21s) - thresholds increasing to under 25s from April 2026
  • National Insurance Exemption – No National Insurance contributions for apprentices under 25
  • Recognised Qualification – Accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Location – Apprenticeships currently available in England
  • Additional Qualifications – Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) and Understanding Health Improvement (health champion) courses can be added to the apprenticeship at no additional cost
