Course overview
Healthcare is changing. The emphasis is shifting from just treating illness to tackling health inequalities and empowering individuals to take responsibility for their own wellbeing through positive lifestyle changes. The workplace offers a valuable opportunity for health improvement and employers are increasingly supporting promotion of staff wellbeing as good practice.
Accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and supported by the Department of Health and Social Care and the government's Choosing Health agenda, the course will:
Give you a better understanding and appreciation of how inequalities in health may develop and what the current policies are for addressing them
Equip you with knowledge and understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing and providing practical support for individuals who wish to have a healthier lifestyle
Enable you to give advice to others while empowering you to make your own healthier lifestyle choices
Who is the course for?
The course is designed for those who wish to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals in the workplace. It will also put you in an ideal place to promote healthy living to your local community.
How the course is delivered
The course is delivered online via our state-of-the-art b-Hive learning platform. It includes learning materials, practice tests, case studies using our Virtual Pharmacy, news items and tutorials for professional development post-qualification.
Each module includes a set of short quiz questions, and you will then take a mock exam comprising 30 multiple choice questions. On successful completion of the mock exam, you will be registered for the official RSPH exam, which follows the same format.
Workshop
For larger groups, the course can also be delivered as an engaging, face-to-face workshop by an expert tutor. These are supported by interactive online tutorials and attendees would be enrolled on the Buttercups e-learning programme, outlined above, prior to the workshop.

You'll learn about inequalities in health in the UK, the reasons for these and what the government is doing to tackle the issues.
Effective Communication
This module explores how effective communication can support health messages and how improvements in health and wellbeing may be promoted to individuals.
Healthy Living Messages
This module provides you with the knowledge and understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing and will equip you to provide practical support for individuals trying to attain a healthier lifestyle.
Encouraging Change in Behaviour
Finally, this module looks at the impact of change on improving an individual's health and wellbeing.
