NHS England Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme (CPTAP) 2026

NHS England is again offering a financial training contribution as part of their Community Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Programme (CPTAP). Applications are now open to apply for £31,010 per pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician (PTPT), which is split into two payments of £15,505 per year for two years.

The funding is being offered to support sites in developing an employer-led, work-based training programme which meets the GPhC initial education and training (IET) standards for pharmacy technicians and the NHS England Education Quality Framework.

There is a maximum of one place available per pharmacy group, per NHS England region. The Buttercups Pharmacy Technician Training Programme (Apprenticeship Pathway) is an eligible programme for pharmacies to receive this funding.

Applications are submitted through an online Application of Funding (AoF) form, which must be submitted by 12:00 (midday) on Monday 18th May 2026.
